The mine was found in 1937. A sorting tower was also built near the mine. The sorting of burning stone from other stones happened by hand work without any machines. Men worked mainly under ground and women in the sorting tower.

The mine was known for its high level working culture, low price of burning stone and well planned operations.

The mine differed from other mines because it dug burning stone from both above and under ground at the same time.

During the mine's 64 year old history it produced 48 329 542 tons of burning stone. This amount would provide electricity for our country for 14 years.
